From now onwards our association would be known as ‘Nabadiganta UJAN Welfare Society’. It is a moment of delight and great achievement that our association has been registered under West Bengal Societies Registration Act XXVI of 1961 as a Society with aforementioned name. Our registration number is S / 1L / 61831.

I am extremely sorry for excessive delay in making any further updates about our current status, movements and future plans. We have been busily engaged in pursuing Society Registration Office for our registration certificate. And apart from that, many of our members, like Chitrangshu, Sudipto, Suman, Dhiman, Shaurya, Ayaon, Sourav and Krishnendu initiated a large scale project, which I would like to share with all of you.

Ujan is now planning for a large project which would have quite wider scope of activities, involvement and impetus on the people. We are in constant touch with some government agencies for persuading them to work as partners in this project, because of the magnitude and scale of activities required.
Ujan is in process of short-listing a village where this project would be initiated. Unlike our previous project, it would involve entire village and their residents. We would describe in details our objectives, plan, modus operandi in a separate mail later. The key objective of the project would definitely be elevating the living condition of that village, but Ujan is now busy of making initial draft of a scientific process which would be used there and this process and concept would be the USP of our society.
We have visited one village in Bankura, called Dhunara. That village is one of the quite backward villages, most of us have ever seen. We came to know the government has also labeled that village as ‘backward’. The village is quite remote and lacking severely in basic infrastructure, amenities and base necessities, like education, health and food. We are in the process of making a project report which we would share with all of you. After making the report and making draft of our modus operandi, we may join in a discussion to finalize this next BIG Project!
On some other fronts - after Puja, Ujan would organize an eye-camp in Narrah village. It would be a wonderful opportunity of the people there who can come and make an eye check by good doctors. Ujan would be main organizing partner for entire event which may span for 2 days.
Our Bel-mala activities are going with astounding success. Because of its unique scheme, attitudes towards making a wholesome development in areas like education, health etc of its group members, it has created much stir in that region. Even local panchayet and government agencies are making full appreciation of this project. We are planning to offer an incentive scheme to the members for boosting good performance and we are now in the process of evaluation and short-listing members qualified for that.
We have some moment of failure also! We have tried to encourage the girls who just passed Madhyamik Examination for Higher Secondary. She has been offered free tuitions from Ujan, her admission fees would have been taken care of. But in spite of all these exercises, her family opted for her early marriage. This is one true picture where our villages are standing still at this age of 21st century. The people there need more self awareness, freedom from century old shackles of backwardness of thoughts and attitudes towards life. This is right anvil where all of us should come forward and work hand-in-hand to shape their future.
